Sometimes There's Wine

Shanan Custer and Carolyn Pool are two of the funniest people in the Twin Cities. With Sometime's There's Wine they bring their comedic and truthful look into everyday life to the Andy Boss Thrust Stage of Park Square Theater. I first saw the show at the Minnesota Fringe Festival in 2016 where it won the audience choice award and got to play an encore show, which was a joy to be at.

Many of the hilarious scenes from the popular Fringe show are back in this full length version, such as the scene where a woman finds herself relegated to the children’s table with her 11 year old niece at Christmas Dinner. Or the scene where a woman goes to the doctor because she isn’t feel well just to find out that the diagnosis is that she is in her forties.

This version of the show feels a bit more grown up, a bit more honest. Telling the truth more directly, and fleshing out the vignettes a bit more, as we continue to go back to the same scenario and characters, watching how it unfolds over time. This is a treat because Sometimes There's Wine is a show that you don't want to end.

The show is best experienced with a glass of wine. To make you feel more a part of the show, like you are hanging out with old friends. The show is intimate and wonderfully staged on the Andy Boss Thrust Stage. There isn’t a bad seat in the house, Custer and Pool play to every seat, something that can be tricky on the Boss stage.

Sometimes There’s Wine is a show for friends, anyone who likes a good glass of wine or has ever felt overwhelmed or exasperated by their life.

Sometimes There’s Wine is playing on Park Square Theater’s Andy Boss Thrust Stage until October 14th.
